A comparison between nailfold capillaroscopy patterns in adulthood in juvenile and adult-onset systemic sclerosis: A EUSTAR exploratory study.

Objective: Qualitative capillaroscopy patterns in juvenile- and adult-onset systemic sclerosis (SSc) were studied in adulthood using data from the EULAR Scleroderma Trials and Research (EUSTAR) database. Methods: Data collected between June 2004 and April 2013 were examined with focus on capillaroscopy. In this retrospective exploratory study, series of patients with juvenile-onset SSc were matched with series of adult-onset SSc having the same gender and autoantibody profile. Results: 30 of 123 patients with juvenile-onset and 2108 of 7133 with adult-onset SSc had data on capillaroscopy. We examined the distribution of selected raft proteins on the sarcolemma of skeletal myofibers and the role of cholesterol environment in the distribution. Immunofluorescence staining showed that flotillin-1 and influenza hemagglutinin exhibited rafts that located in the domains deficient of the dystrophin glycoprotein complex, but the distribution patterns of the two proteins were different. Cholesterol depletion from the sarcolemma by means of methyl-β-cyclodextrin resulted in distorted caveolar morphology and redistribution of the caveolin 3 protein. Doubling Recruitment of Pediatric Low-grade Glioma within Two Decades does not change Outcome – Report from the German LGG Studies

Successive multicenter studies for pediatric low-grade glioma (LGG) in Germany were accompanied by a doubling of annual recruitment over 2 decades. We investigated whether this increase conveyed a change of epidemiologic characteristics or survival.Participating centers reported 4634 patients with the radiologic/histologic diagnosis of LGG (1996-2018), rising from 109 to 278/year. Relating these numbers to all pediatric CNS tumors registered at the German Childhood Cancer Registry, the LGG fraction and annual crude incidence rates increased (32% to 51%; 0.94 to 2.12/100,000 children/adolescents15 years). Abstract Diplumbanes Pb 2 R 3 R′ 3 (R,R′ = Ph, o -Tol, p -Tol) have been synthesized from R 3 PbLi and R′ 3 PbCl at −60°C in THF. Mass, 13 C and 207 Pb NMR spectra of the products exhibit migrations of R, R′ in the transition state (R 3 PbLi + ClPbR′ 3 ) leading to a complex distribution of the substituents (δ( 207 Pb) with respect to PbMe 4 −70 to −95 ppm). The PbPb stretching vibration (100 to 115 cm −1 ) couples with a lattice vibration giving rise to a single intensive Raman line. The crystal structure of Pb 2 Ph 3 ( p -Tol) 3 has been determined and refined to R = 0.155.
